Jacky and Rennie were set to start their new life in Coleraine this week. Rennie had gone through more than his fair share of challenges in past years. A double-lower-leg amputee, he was determined to show that nothing could stop him.
Two years later he found himself in hospital again, spending four months there recovering from an infection which started from a simple cat scratch.
Following a superbug infection in his kidneys, Jacky literally gave away her dog salon business to focus on being a full-time carer for Rennie.
Just a few weeks ago, Rennie was again in hospital - this time with a serious thumb injury and infection, leaving Jacky to pack up their home and get ready to move interstate to their new home.
At 6:20pm on the evening of May 28th, Jacky shared on Facebook that she had "made it" to their new home, and commented on the storm brewing in the distance. At 6:35pm, just 15 minutes later, emergency services got the call that there had been a head-on collision at Struan - about an hour and a half from Coleraine. Sadly, Rennie died at the scene.
A few weeks ago, Jacky set up a GoFundMe to raise money to help them through this challenging period of their lives, as the bills piled up. Now with Rennie's passing, this money could be used more now than ever. If you can help, please do. If you can't contribute financially, simply sharing the GoFundMe link will help a great deal.
