Nominations are now open for the 2018 Australia Day Local Citizen of the Year Awards, which will again be presented at the City of Mount Gambier's Australia Day Breakfast celebrations at The Railway Lands on Friday January 26th, 208.
There will again be three categories you can nominate for, which are as follows.
- Citizen of the Year (persons 30 years of age or older on 26th January, 2018),
- Young Citizen of the Year (persons under 30 years of age on 26th January, 2018), and
- Community Event of the Year, for events run during 2017.
“The awards recognise individuals and organisations that have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year, and/or given outstanding service over a number of years, to a local community over and above normal employment duties,” City of Mount Gambier Mayor Andrew Lee said.
If you know a person who fits this description, then it's up to you to nominate them to see them recognised for their hard work and dedication to their community. Nominations in writing will be received until 5:00pm on Friday 24th November, 2017 and should be addressed to Mayor Andrew Lee at: PO Box 56, Mount Gambier SA 5290, and marked on the outside of the envelope with ‘Australia Day 2018’.

The Australia Day celebrations will once again be jam-packed with entertainment from 7:30am, with performances from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, North Gambier School students, Jason and Christy Wallace and Phoenix Music Studio singers with award presentations beginning at 9:15am.
