Well done to Teen Fiction and 56K who took out the adult and youth nodes respectively of this year's local GovHack competition.
A total of twelve teams entered (making up a quarter of the entrants in SA) working over the course of just one weekend to use government data in a creative way and present the idea as a video by the deadline.
Teen Fiction is comprised of Talie Teakle, Brendan Bachmann, Jessica Tucker, Jess Pantou and Tim Bloch - who worked over the weekend to create their app "Explor'd" - an interactive app allowing people to explore and learn more about their surrounds, and earn badges while doing so.
The winners of the youth node were 56K with their idea of "Reefdom". Liam Moulden, Dylan McCarthy and Edward Layzell worked together to create an educational game for kids, helping to teach the impact we have on coral reefs.
Brendan Bachmann has previously competed with his team OutsideIn, who took out the State Championship for 2015 and 2016. Here's hoping we can score another State Champion!
