Discover the Latest Technology at the Library's Innovation Lab

In its second year now, the Innovation Lab will again be hosted at the Mount Gambier Library - showing off a range of new technologies, including 3D printing, Raspberry Pis, Virtual Reality and drones. Everything will be on show on Saturday September 9th from 10am until 1pm - for the community to use and engage with a range of cool new technology.

“It is a chance to find out what all the hype is with drones and 360 degree cameras, experience flying through space using Virtual Reality headsets and a chance to discover how easy it is to create a 3D object and turn it into a key ring or watch the magic of 3D scanning. It’s also an opportunity to get inspired by Raspberry Pi DIY projects,” City of Mount Gambier Library Programming Officer Jessica Tucker said.

Local businesses and schools will also be involved in the event, with support from Green Triangle Electronics, TDRS, Hurst Camera House, Marcus Jones Photography and Video, Ockert Le Roux Photography, St Martins Lutheran College and Harvey Norman.

Ms Tucker and City of Mount Gambier Library Assistant Brendan Bachmann are also using the event as an opportunity to allow people have an audio tour of the Library, using the "silent disco" headsets. "The virtual tour guide will walk you around the library and point out interesting facts and figures about the library and the area", Ms Tucker said.

Those in attendance will also be able to go in the draw to win tech prizes from Harvey Normal just by filling out a short survey.
